I admire Rose. She is the volunteer who worked with us in Cambodia. She looks like she's in her late thirties, and she's still single. She practically dedicated her life to the needy. She doesnt just help one beneficiary, but a few projects.
I remember this conversation very vividly.
Deb: I really respect Rose cos she's willing to give up everything in her life to help the needy.
Ms Tee: Don't pity her for giving up her life for that. A few years back, I met a nun who does volunteer work like Rose. I felt the same as you, so I told the nun about it. She told me that she didn't lose anything in life. In fact, she thanks God for giving her the opportunity to gain so much from helping these people.Very noble of them eh? I've been thinking of achieving something great in life. Oh well, not really smth remarkable, but a lifelong achievement lah. But I'm an ordinary girl after all. I wanna lead a normal life and have my own family. You may say that I can achieve both simultaneously, but I want to commit myself fully to one of them; I don't want to be half-hearted. Sighs, shall see bah. If i've enough courage, maybe one day I'll give up building a new family and contribute more in voluntary work. (:
